How long testosterone takes to level off
On an unchanged schedule, a blood level climbs for about five half-lives before it stops rising. For testosterone enanthate that is roughly five weeks; for undecanoate it is closer to three months. Here is why, and what the climb looks like.
Short answer
Steady state arrives at about five half-lives, so testosterone enanthate takes roughly 5.1 weeks to level off, cypionate about 4.9 weeks, propionate around 5.2 days, and undecanoate about 14.3 weeks. Until then every dose lands before the previous ones have cleared and the level is still climbing — which means bloodwork drawn early in a cycle is measuring the climb, not the plateau.
Accumulation is the reason it climbs
If each dose cleared completely before the next arrived, the level would repeat the same peak-and-fall forever and there would be nothing to wait for. That is not what happens. On any schedule where the interval is shorter than a few half-lives, a dose lands on top of what is left of the ones before it, and the floor rises.
Testosterone enanthate has a half-life of 7.2 days. Injected weekly, roughly half of each dose is still present when the next one goes in. The second week starts higher than the first, the third higher than the second, and the increments shrink each time until what is being added equals what is being cleared. That balance point is steady state.
The shrinking is the important part. The first week adds the most, and each week after adds less, so the last stretch of the climb is almost flat and hard to see. That is why the practical figure is five half-lives rather than infinity: past that point the remaining climb is too small to matter.
The number for each ester
Five half-lives, applied to the esters people actually run: propionate 5.2 days, phenylpropionate 12.5 days, isocaproate 15.5 days, decanoate 4 weeks, cypionate 4.9 weeks, enanthate 5.1 weeks, undecanoate 14.3 weeks.
That last figure is the one worth sitting with. With a half-life of 20 days, undecanoate is still rising 14.3 weeks in — longer than many cycles run in total. A protocol built on it is not at its plateau for most of its own length.
What this means for bloodwork
A test drawn two weeks into an enanthate protocol is not measuring where that protocol ends up. It is measuring a point on the way there, and the level will keep rising for weeks afterwards without anything changing. Waiting until the curve has flattened is the difference between measuring the schedule and measuring the climb.
The same logic runs in reverse at the end. Stopping does not drop the level; it starts a decay that takes the same five half-lives to complete.
