Why long esters take months to level off
A compound with a twenty day half-life is still climbing three months into a protocol. The reason is accumulation, the maths is simple, and the consequence is that a lot of cycles end before the compound in them ever reached its plateau.
Short answer
A schedule stops climbing at about five half-lives, so the longer the half-life the longer the climb. Testosterone undecanoate (20 days) needs about 14.3 weeks; the castor oil version (33.9 days) needs about 24.2 weeks; trenbolone enanthate (11 days) about 7.9 weeks; nandrolone decanoate (10.2 days) about 7.3 weeks. A twelve week run of any of those spends most of its length below the level the schedule would eventually reach.
The climb is the accumulation
A long half-life means very little of a dose has cleared by the time the next one lands. Each injection therefore adds almost its whole self to a floor that is already there, and the floor rises week after week. The rise slows as the growing level is cleared faster in absolute terms, and eventually the two balance — but "eventually" scales directly with the half-life.
Short esters do the same thing over a much shorter window, which is why they feel like they arrive immediately. Nothing different is happening; the same curve is simply compressed.
The cycle that never reached its plateau
Put the numbers together and an awkward result falls out. Nandrolone decanoate needs about 7.3 weeks to settle. Trenbolone enanthate needs about 7.9 weeks. Run either for twelve weeks and the level is still rising when the run ends, which means the schedule was never at the level it was designed around — and that the last weeks were at a meaningfully higher level than the first.
This is the single thing a plotted curve shows that a spreadsheet of weekly totals cannot. The weekly dose was constant the whole way through. The blood level was not.
And it runs the same way down
Clearance is the mirror image. After the last dose of a compound with a 20 days half-life, the level takes roughly 15.7 weeks to fall to a few percent of where it was. A long ester is a long commitment in both directions, and that is a property of the ester, not of the dose.

Does a loading dose fix this?
It changes the shape of the climb rather than the half-life. A larger first dose starts the level nearer its plateau, so the curve flattens sooner, at the cost of a higher peak early on. The rate at which the compound clears is unchanged.
Why does the level keep rising when the dose has not changed?
Because each dose lands before the previous ones have cleared, so what remains of them adds to it. The level rises until the amount cleared each interval equals the amount added, which takes about five half-lives.
